Jesus Loves the Little Children

Updated: Jul 24, 2020

MATTHEW: 18

At that [a]time the disciples came to Jesus and said, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”2 And He called a child to Himself and set him [b]before them,3 and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.4 Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.5 And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me;6 but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.

Throughout Jesus’ ministry he encouraged his followers to be child-like in their faith. This is not to be confused with childishness which is petty and immature but rather a type of faith that is marked by innocence and a trusting nature.

In the months following the formation of Faith Fortress Ministries the board engaged in a number of ministry activities but it wasn’t until the Lord led us to begin sponsoring orphaned children in Northeast India that our hearts became truly unified in our mission.

The five Naga children that Faith Fortress supports have provided us with untold blessings as we receive reports on their progress from our caseworker as well as personal notes from the children themselves.

In today’s world it seems that politics influences everything around us. Even ministry efforts sometimes attract controversy due to our over-sensitive society and ubiquitous social media.

I can say with certainty that the pure, uncomplicated ministry of providing food, shelter, clothing, education, and spiritual guidance for children who literally have nothing has brought immeasurable joy to my life.

In the 25th chapter of the book of Matthew Jesus tells us that whenever we care for the forgotten and overlooked in society it is the same as showing love toward him. It also allows the one being served to experience the same love that impelled Jesus to the cross.

I thank God that he loves the little children and that he allows us the opportunity to participate in the work of meeting their physical and spiritual needs.
